5-minute installation
With the Spark light surround designed for the Home, installation is a piece of cake. The recessed design of the camera positions means you don’t have to measure anything during the installation process. The engraved cable channels on the back of the light surround allow to hide the the USB camera cables neatly.
Suitable for stands
If your walls are too thin for mounting a dartboard, or if you need a portable setup, a dartboard stand often serves as a convenient solution. Since the Home can be safely used by hanging it on your dartboard surround, it also works perfectly well on a stand.
use with caution
With a regular dartboard stand there may be larger vibrations, resulting in some inaccuracy and slowness in your game.
recommended
A Scolia Home on a dartboard stand with a cross brace provides almost the same performance as a setup mounted on a solid wall.
Portable design
Thanks to its lightweight and easy setup, the Home is perfect choice if you would like to bring your darts equipment with you to a different place. Whether it’s for an exhibition, a pub game, or a party in your summer house, you can install the Home system on any dartboard in just a few minutes without drilling into the wall.
Millimetre precision
The sophisticated image processing algorithm of Scolia Home determines the coordinates of each throw with millimetre precision. Based on our research, the accuracy of Scolia Home is roughly 99.5%, which means you can easily play for hours without correcting a single throw.
This metric is derived from empirical data obtained through our research and our userbase. Actual performance may vary depending on specific circumstances.
Automatic calibration
Like every Scolia system, the Home calibrates its cameras completely automatically within a few seconds on every start-up. You don’t have to worry about tiresome manual calibration processes, the system is completely plug and play.
Frequently asked questions
Scolia Home is a perfect fit for residential customers who seek a compact, lightweight and more affordable auto-scoring upgrade kit for their dartboard. The system is designed for the Scolia Spark light surround. It is very easy to install and provides high accuracy scorekeeping without taking up too much space.
Apart from a standard steel-tip dartboard, you will need the following items:
- Scolia Spark light surround
- A standard dartboard surround
You can buy both of these items in a bundle with Scolia Home in our webstore or at various retailers. Additionally, you will need a 75 by 75 cm space around your dartboard and wired internet connection.
For detailed instructions, read our step-by-step installation guide (v2.0.0 or v2.1.0) or watch our assembly video.
Not necessarily. You can install Scolia Home without any additional holes in your wall. Simply attach the camera-holding legs and the processing unit to the Scolia spark light surround, and hang it up on your dartboard surround. However, depending on the rigidity of your dartboard surround, you might find that it is deforming under the weight of the Scolia Spark or that it is not stable enough. For this reason, we recommend using the T-shaped support brackets for Scolia Home to permanently attach the Scolia Spark lighting to the wall.
Yes, the Scolia processing unit requires wired internet connection to operate. If taking a LAN cable to your dartboard is problematic, we highly recommend using a powerline adapter. Using these adapters, you can easily provide high-speed wired internet connection to your Scolia system without drilling through the walls or the ceiling. You can find a list of the most popular powerline adapters here.
Please note that you can use wireless internet connection for your client device. However, depending on the quality of your wireless access network, you can experience large variance in response times. Therefore, if latency is crucial for you, we recommend using wired connection for the client device for the best user experience. For instance, you can open the Scolia web application on your PC and redirect its screen to a monitor/TV near the dartboard. If you want to mirror the user interace of your tablet/smartphone to a TV, you have many options to do so: depending on your platform, you can check your options for Android and iOS.
Scolia Home is designed for the Scolia Spark light surround. The system is also compatible with the Bull’s Termote 2.0 light surround. Other light surrounds (such as the Target Corona or the Winmau Plasma) are not supported, but based on user feedback, the system performs well with them.
Most one-piece PU (polyurethane) dartboard surrounds are perfectly compatible with Scolia Home. The main requirement is that when using the surround as a holder for the Scolia Spark light surround, the dartboard should be in the middle of the light surround. For this to happen, the approximate dimensions of the surround should be the following:
- Outer diameter: 68-70 cm
- Width: 12-12.5 cm
- Thickness: 3-4 cm
Most manufacturers (Winmau, Target, Unicorn, Bull’s) produce PU surrounds with these dimensions. You can also buy one of these surrounds for your new Scolia Home product in our webshop.
Unlike the Scolia Pro system, Scolia Home boards do not display the 6-character board code. Scolia Home systems operate with fixed board codes, meaning that the board code remains the same until the owner of the board decides to change it. If the Scolia Home system you would like to join is your board, use the Quick Join functionality or check the board code on your My Boards page. If the Scolia Home system you would like to join is not your board, contact the owner of the board to obtain the 6-character board code.
The camera-holding legs of Scolia Home – unlike the ones of Scolia Pro – are not attached directly to the wall. Instead, they are mounted on the Scolia Spark light surround, which makes the system more exposed to accidental movements during the game. For this reason, Scolia Home is more suitable for residential environments. Although the software can compensate for minor movements of the cameras, make sure not to touch the Scolia Spark lighting or the camera-holding legs when removing the darts from the dartboard. If you experience too many inaccurate calls, recalibrate the system on the My Boards page.
Yes, the full functionality of the Scolia web application is available free of charge not only for Scolia Pro and Home owners, but for anyone who registers at game.scoliadarts.com.
Yes, Scolia Home is available only for European customers at the moment. We are working intensively on obtaining the necessary certificates for Scolia Home for worldwide distribution.
